ANTARCTICA: Passion and Obession
Exhibition, Lectures, School program
Excerpt from the Town of Halton Hills Press Release:
HALTON HILLS, ON – From October 31 to November 25, the Town of Halton Hills’ Helson Gallery will feature Antarctica: Passion and Obsession, an exhibition by noted Canadian wildlife photographers Rosemarie and Pat Keough.
Comprised of 56 striking images made over a two year period, the show reflects the dedication and artistry of this award winning husband-and-wife team. Their portfolio of stunning Antarctic photos has also been compiled in a special limited edition tome bound by Felton Bookbinding of Georgetown. The tome and a display about its making are also included in the exhibit.
"The photographs are both eye opening and inspiring,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “This exhibition has toured internationally and we are thrilled to be able to bring it to the Halton Hills community.”
Helson Gallery Curator, Judy Daley agreed. “If you think of the Antarctic continent as a vast, frozen wasteland, prepare to be amazed by the colour and diversity of life captured by the Keoughs.”
In conjunction with the exhibition, Rosemarie Keough will give a public talk about the exhibition and the challenges that she and Pat faced in capturing the harsh Antarctic environment.
A copy of the Antarctica tome has been generously donated to the Town of Halton Hills. Another copy will be presented to the Town’s Sister City, Wenjiang (China), in recognition of the municipalities’ shared interest in environmental stewardship.
Pat & Rosemarie Keough thank: Mayor Rick Bonnette, Judy Daley, Catherine McLeod, Damian Szybalski, Brenda & Larry Sisnett, Keith Felton, and Julie Rossall & Ollie Tuchel.
